Training, some more training a visit to the gym and physio and more training. Went for a social night time snowboard and life is pretty good.It started on wednesday with a day off snow and a trip down to Kelowna, British Coumbia and a pretty heavy duty session at Aspire fitness centre and some heavy weights. I didn’t want to push quite as heavy on my legs as last time as it hurt my knees a little so I maxed out at a measly 560lbs. He had us doing this thing called baby rolls, which are literally what they are. Rolling as you did as a baby as it’s one of the first things as humans we do, roll over from back to tummy and vice versa. Yeah so it’s actually harder than you think, when you little guy you don’t know how to engage all the different muscles and trying to revert back to this style is quite a trial in co-ordination especially for me as I engage my muscles in the most unideal radical manner. My quads do things your hamstrings do and my quads try to do things calf muscles do and they also try to work as my gluets and hip abductors and then the muscles in my face try and get in on the act. So all in all I did a pretty good impersonation of a baby in the end I made funny face and funny noises trying to roll backwards and forwards. The end result of this is supposed to be that it may help to tell my nervous system to do things the able way rather than the way I have adapted and my brain thinks is normal. So really it was quite an interesting time at the gym, trying to be he-man and lift mega weight and then reverting to being child like and rolling round. Kinda a mans biggest dream, yeah I’m super strong, but am allowed to act like a little kid. LmaoThen it was to the physio and some time were the attention was given to me by someone else versus the gym where you have to do all the work whilst getting yelled at to go faster and push heavier. So it was a pretty good day and made me ready for bed.Thursday dawned to it being lots warmer up at BigWhite Ski Resort, still -3 but sunny and no wind. So on went the new race gear for a test run and I was early out the door and the first one to the chairlift for some laps down some untouched groomers to warm up then off to the track. We inspected to find nothing new except that coach had set the gates really high up in the berms to push us up into the fastest yet most difficult place to ride. Stink man, no more short cuts through the easy way down. She out to make us fast. So I hit a couple of laps and then Candice comes over in her skis and says all right follow me and where gunna go up in the dye line at the top of the berm. Mmmmm, that means I’m gunna go mega fast. Shit I better go take off my lacey panties and put on the big boy pants. So off we went and we went pretty damn quickly and I was cutting her down and racing a choice line that I had kinda opted to avoid most of the season so far, nearly had her 3/4 of the way down but got compressed in a corner a little and she escaped me for a moment, two corners later she could sense me coming and pulled out and let me through. Continued to work on this line for the rest of the day and got faster and faster as I went. Yay.After I had had enough of that as my legs were jelly donuts I called it and went home to rest for an hour and a half until we had to go for a after hill fitness session in our little make shift gym. Over heads squats, burpees, press ups and kettle bell swings were what our little circuit we called Rosa consisted of. Yes her name was said with some choice words before and after it, Rosa is a ?? and that ??? Rosa. Gotta love her though. This was followed by stretching and rolling with again some more choice words that were directed at no one in particular, just feelings Eh!!!Yay Now where back at the Condo to veg for the evening. I had been home for about ten minutes when i inquired to my team mate, hey John ya wanna go night riding. So yeah back into snow gear and out there. The afor mentioned jelly donuts kinda thought it was a good idea. Nest thing where in the park hitting jumps and rails, John on his freestyle board and me not the race board i I had bent in spain. It’s kinda got freestyle lines to it now, Kinda. The session was kinda short but fun to be out. Then we booked it for the condo, oh oh the flood lights don’t light up the trail home. Use the force young Jedi, geez it must be really difficult and scary for the visually impaired division riding in the dark the whole time even when it’s sunny for the rest of us. Home safe. It was cool our wax tech likes to cook so he made us dinner as well as making our boards slippery. We watched TV and ate together and then crawled into our rooms. So that sums up Wednesday and Thursday. I’ll make Fridays post when we get back from working out.
