Are all your friends KCTS members yet? If not, today is a good day to join! The KCTS work crew has been busy making sure that everybody could enjoy the trails with that early spring and summer and now it's time for you to show your support. Annual memberships are $10 for individuals, $20 for a family, or $125 for a lifetime individual. Just go to www.kcts.ca and renew on line, or pick up a form at Revolution Cycles or Gerick's.
ROSSLAND Trails report
The trail crew has been very busy completing annual inspections and maintenance throughout the trail network. As of the end of May, we’ve been through all but the alpine trails, and with enough rain to keep the dust down, they’re all in great shape. We’ve started work on the south end of the Seven Summits trail, but despite the view from the low-lands, there’s still plenty of snow up high and it’ll be at least late June before it’s snow free. As for new projects, we’re supporting the Church of Dirt volunteers who have connected up the new Eddie J (named after the mining claim) trail between Drifter and the Monte Christo road, and who are continuing building on a route which will connect though to Kootenay Columbia trail. On Deer Park we’re helping another group of volunteers to build a trail connecting from the corner of Victoria Ave and Nevada St up onto Drakes trail, and this new trail will be the focus of our Volunteer Trails day on June 6th. Now that we’ve taken on responsibility for the Paydirt trails, we’re working with the volunteers to make some positive changes. We’re also in the planning and fundraising stage of a proposed major upgrade of the Dewdney trail, which could start later this year. Otherwise most trails will see improvements in the coming months, and we’ll be making a particular effort to improve the trail signage. Stewart Spooner Trail manager
